TOYS Japanese Dino-Riders

Dino-Riders were also available in Japan.  Unlike the typical box art that appeared everywhere else, the Japanese boxes showed the actual toys instead of an illustration.  These pieces are highly sought after by collectors because of their unique look.  For the most part, the toys are identical to the U.S versions.  There are a few exceptions.  For example, the Llahd figure that came with the Pterodactyl has painted black eyes instead of the common blue eyes and the Turret figure that came with the Styracosaurus has black hair instead of the usual brown hair.  Each toy also came with its own unique miniature comic.  It seems that only the first series of toys were released in Japan.

The boxes were also unique in that the Dino-Riders and the Rulons were given their own symbols, similar to the symbols used to represent the Autobots and the Decepticons in Transformers.
